Our Values and Mission
We started up as, and still are, an ARBA-registered backyard family rabbitry. Despite living near the city, we don't let that hold us back from the joys (and challenges) of homesteading. "Rabbitsteading" is our first step into owning the whole process of food - from growing to processing. It's not about it being easy - it's about having animals that we know are humanely raised, hormone-free, and have minimal impact on the environment. We've since decided to offer some of what we raise for sale.
Each of our animals is handled from birth on, to assure a more calm demeanor an easier to handle rabbit. This also means the animals are less stressed throughout their life. Our rabbits enjoy all the hay they can eat, plentiful and rich rabbit food, and spend some time during the warmer months roaming the yard and grazing on lots of fresh, green grass. (No chemicals!)
We strive to have a positive impact on our community by supplying local, quality meat and animals. We encourage and support local efforts (4H,etc) through reasonable sales, in addition to rabbit education and information sharing with others. Learning is a lifelong process, and we look forward to a lifetime of "schooling" about rabbits! We also look to help support more self-sufficiency and "back to basics" farming within our own community - especially focused on the fact that one does not need a farm to raise your own food.
